$10,000 in grants. What's the BIG idea?
A community grant program for Vancouver School Board students, helping turn creative, practical ideas into real projects that make our communities stronger.
In the community
A grant program built through our schools.
Big O Tires is a community-driven auto service group with locations throughout British Columbia. As an independently owned group of stores, our owners and employees are members of their communities and care about the health and success of those communities. In cooperation with the Vancouver School Board, our BC Big O Tires stores offer a grant program to schools within the VSB, designed to source and help implement new, creative initiatives that help our communities flourish. Looking out for our neighbours is part of who we are, because at Big O, trust is a BIG deal.
Why through schools? Our students are among the brightest, most creative and most community-conscious people around. Supported by their network of teachers and parents, they represent some of the most innovative minds among us. So we ask them to put their thinking caps on and conceptualize practical, innovative and affordable initiatives, based on the needs they see in their own communities.
This year we will award three grants totaling $10,000 to the three Big Ideas we judge to be the best, for the 2026/2027 school year: $5,000 for first place, $3,000 for second and $2,000 for third.

Three grants. $10,000 for the best Big Ideas.
Those might be youth-focused ideas tackling nutrition or education, or broader initiatives that affect the whole community, such as homelessness or accessibility. We ask students to come up with ideas the BC Big O Tires group can help fund and launch. We call it the Big Idea.
